Move Ahead with Navistar’s Sales Operations Leadership Development Program (SOLD)

Navistar invests a great deal of resources into development programs. Navistar’s development programs give a select group of recent college graduates and young professionals an opportunity to learn from the best-of-the-best in the industry. In the SOLD program, you are provided an opportunity to learn at the highest level in the industry and apply that knowledge to a future career in sales. Navistar does this by offering the best people with the best training, tools, and encouragement needed to be successful. The SOLD program allows you to make the most of your abilities and take your career where most only can dream of.


Program Mission and Objective

Develop a working knowledge of the trucking industry: including Navistar product lines and distribution channel, competitive product lines, the retail transactional environment; and the operations of a truck dealership. You will also develop an excellent understanding of Navistar’s infrastructure, values, policies and procedures, order fulfillment process. In turn, you will gain a solid foundation for a sales career.


Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (SOLD Program) or a Bachelor’s degree in progress (Internship)
  • Minimum of 2 years sales or sales internship experience
  • Positive Attitude, Ethics, and Values that parallel those of Navistar
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to relocate
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required. (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.)

Rotation Track

The two-year Sales Operations Leadership Development Program (SOLD) is designed to give you more than enough training for your future in sales with Navistar. The first six months are centered on developing a strong foundational understanding of the Navistar’s sales methodology. Each rotation will give you a working knowledge of the sales organization and its interactions with other business units. Rotations include, but are not limited to:

  • Assembly & Manufacturing Facilities
  • Navistar Financial Corporation
  • International Dealer Networks
  • Customer Service Organization (CSO)
  • Central Sales Administration (CSA)
  • Dealer Marketing
  • Parts Organization

Rotation Work Assignments

During the remainder of the two-year rotation track, a SOLD associate may be assigned to one or more of the following work assignments:

  • Sales and Distribution located at World Headquarters (Warrenville, IL)
  • Used Truck Organization (One of several Used Truck locations in the U.S.)
  • Engineering and Technology Center (Ft. Wayne, IN)
  • Severe Service Truck Assembly Facility (Garland, TX)
  • Regional and Field Sales Organization (One of several locations located in the U.S.)
  • Franchised International Dealership (Continental U.S.)

Who Will Help You?

Our mentors and steering committee will guide along the path. Beginning the very first day at Navistar you will be given a mentor. These mentors are here to help with any questions or concerns that you may have during the two year program. We encourage you to talk to your mentor about your aspirations, progress, areas of improvement, and even general questions about the company. Mentors are senior level managers, who have the experience and knowledge to help you navigate your future at Navistar. In addition, the SOLD program steering committee will monitor your rotations to ensure that you’re being provided opportunities that will help you excel in your career. The steering committee will monitor all program participant’s goals, activities and policies so that the participant and the program will remain effective and relevant.


Life After SOLD

At the conclusion of the program, we will match the needs of the organization with your skills and talents to fill opportunities within our North American Sales Organization. Our former SOLD participants have gone into variety of exciting disciplines. Hard work and a passion for learning create endless opportunities.
